Katy Bristol
Support Coordinator
Beginning her career in the industry at the tender age of 16, Katy’s first job was providing respite care and support work in the disability sector.
After crossing the Tasman to Australia in her early 20’s, Katy found her home for the next 9 years working for a large disability organisation handling intake and assisting with the children’s program.
An eager student, Katy loved the training opportunities available within the organisation and completed her Diploma of Community Services. Here she also received her introduction to mental health where she was involved in learning and development for NDIS.
Katy is social to her core and takes great delight in seeing her clients thrive and succeed. Her role as Support Coordinator enables her to talk with people from all walks of life, hear their stories, share a laugh with them, and assists them to see that the world is brighter when you share your struggles.
Through lived experience Katy is familiar with these struggles, having a family member with Bipolar who went undiagnosed for many years and succumbed to frequent drug use. This sparked a particular interest in the area of drug and alcohol rehabilitation.
Katy has witnessed the benefits of these programs and strongly believes in their efficacy.
Katy thrives in complex and challenging situations and feels this is where she can help the most- staying calm and level headed in “crisis management”, where others may lose their cool, Katy is not one to give up on her clients or leave them vulnerable to slip through the cracks in the system.
When this social butterfly isn’t working you’ll find her hanging out with friends, usually near water, or cooking (she cooks a mean potato bake).
